Location

On the edge of the popular resort of Fuengirola, the area of Torreblanca del Sol is on the eastern side of the town, thus giving the advantage of also being very close to the neighbouring resort of Benalmadena, with its wonderful award-wining marina (recently voted 'Best Marina in the World').

A comfortable twenty minute drive from Malaga Airport, Torreblanca is an ideal base for all types of holidaymakers- sunlovers, golfers or party-animals.

A car is not essential for a stay at Casa Santiago due to the close proximity of the blue-flag beach as well as  bars, shops and restaurants. The bus route is just 300 metres away with frequent local service into the town centres for just a few pence, while the train station, with connections into Fuengirola or through Benalmadena, Torremolinos, and on into the city of Malaga, is just a short 12 minute walk.

A hire car would however allow guests to make the most of the coast, with the pleasures of the upmarket resorts of Puerto Banus and Marbella well worth the thirty minute drive. Banus is a millionaires paradise, with some of the most
spectacular private yachts you'll see anywhere in the World. Ferraris, Lambourginis and Porsches are the norm around the large marina, which is lined with restaurants and bars, all offering great spots to watch the rich and - if you're lucky - the famous, wander past.

Undoubtedly, costs can be higher here, but there are shops, bars and restaurants to suit all budgets, so a day among the high flyers won't break the bank. A trip to Puerto Banus really is a 'must do' during your visit.

The delightful 'white villages' of Mijas and Benalmadena Pueblo give you a more authentic taste of Spain, and are both close to Casa Santiago. Mijas in particular is an extremely popular contrast from life on the beach, with its traditional moorish, white-washed narrow streets, and the smallest bull-ring in Spain. The village has countless shops, cafes and restaurants and absolutely spectacular views of the coastline and mountains.

Benalmadena Pueblo is smaller and less 'touristy', and is a favourite spot of ours, being less than ten minutes by car from Casa Santiago. The whitewashed streets hide some delightful little eateries, and the pretty little village square has a couple of very popular restaurants which are great for a tranquil lunch under the orange trees. After eating, stroll along towards the local church where the views towards the sea are quite outstanding.

The unique experience of a visit to Gibraltar, or to the ancient Andalucian cities of Ronda, Seville, Cordoba or Granada can also be enjoyed in a day-trip.

For a change of pace, why not call in at Cabopino Marina - much smaller than any of the other marinas in the area, but beautiful nonetheless, with just a handful of cafes and restaurants overlooking the boats. Cabopino also has a great beach right beside the harbour. The marina can be found West of Fuengirola, just on the other side of Calahonda, a minute or so off the coast road.

As well as the coastal delights, there are over forty wonderful golf courses in the area, and more opening each year, to cater for the growing demand for playing the sport in the perfect climate. The closest courses to Casa Santiago are Torrequebrada , La Cala, Alhaurin and the extremely popular twin courses at Mijas Golf. Each of these courses is no more than ten/fifteen minutes drive away.
