Kate Lynch

Somerset Art Week
at East Lambrook Manor

Kate visited Marjery Fish's Grade I listed cottage garden at East Lambrook Manor over a year, making drawings and paintings of the gardeners working behind the scenes.

We see head gardener Mark tying back

rosa william in November and scarifying the grass in January, Andrew balletic as he pulls up iris foetedissima,Tom bathed in light taking penstemon cuttings in the potting shed at Christmas, Pam in the lush hellebores and
Maureen in the tender snowdrops.

The drawings are collected in a hand-bound book which went on exhibition with the paintings at East Lambrook Manor during Somerset Art Week 2004.

Some of the original paintings and prints are still available.

Kate's work is low-key and intimate, haunting images making something memorable and monumetal of the modest, hidden work that goes on behind the scenes.
