Caterina
Graziani
|
The founder of Greenwich
Doulas and a mother of 15 year old twins, Caterina has a considerable level
of experience both as a Birth and a Postnatal Doula. Caterina has a background in
community development and health regeneration as well as IT and accounts (a
long time ago!). Caterina trained with
British Doulas, then went on to take more updated courses including a birth
course with Dr Michel Odent and Liliana Lammers, basic massage and homeopathy
training, paediatric first aid certificate. She is also half way through her
qualification as a Breastfeeding Counsellor with the Association of
Breastfeeding Mothers. Caterina decided to become a
Doula because she is totally committed to empowering new mothers and support
them during their pregnancy, birth and afterwards, to enable them to form a
bond with their babies in their precious first weeks of life. Caterina's birth service
provides informational, emotional and physical support during the antenatal
period and during childbirth for both Mum and Dad. Caterina has a good
understanding of the physiological process of labour. Her approach is very
much about making the experience of childbirth as positive as possible and
protecting the positive memory of each individual's experiences. Caterina also backs
up Deirdre’s birth services in case of emergencies. Her postnatal service aims
to offer support, care and reassurances to new parents. In emotional terms,
Caterina will listen, advise and reassure in a non-pressurising and
non-judgemental way, always respecting the parents' choice. On a practical
level, Caterina will help with things like cooking a light and nutritious
meal for the new mum, demonstrating practical baby-care skills such as
bathing, top and tailing etc., receiving and screening visitors. |
