Recordings

Unfortunately, Richard hasn't made many recordings - the only ones we know of at the present time are:

The Singer's Gilbert and Sullivan (1993)

A fun recording made with the Czech Symphony Orchestra, the Holst Singers, Susan McCulloch, Elizabeth Gale, Fiona Kimm, John Oakman, Steven Page and Richard. This is a two-CD set, one disc featuring the singers in several excerpts from the works of G & S, the second disc is a sort of karaoke, sing-along where you are expected to join in with the orchestra, the lyrics being provided in a 32-page booklet.

The Best of Broadway

Recorded in 1993 on the Pickwick Records label, this album features Richard and various other artists singing well-loved songs from several Broadway musicals. Richard sings "Some Enchanted Evening" from South Pacific, "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" and "People Will Say We're in Love" from Oklahoma. Click on the pictures for a short snippet from each song.

(Huge thanks to Eli and Rose for allowing me to use the samples from their Philip Quast website: http://www.allthingsquast.info)

Chaka

A modern opera composed by Akin Euba, premiered with the City of Birmingham Touring Opera in September 1995. This was recorded in March 1999.

Romeo et Juliette

The Royal Opera's 1994 production in which Richard plays Count Paris is available on video and DVD. It is a co-production by the BBC, Covent Garden Pioneer FSP Ltd and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

The only other recording we could track down is featured on one of several CDs featuring the music that accompanied the 'Inspector Morse' series on TV. Richard is featured on 'Inspector Morse, Vol. 3' (1996) and sings a duet in German from The Magic Flute with Janis Kelly ~ "Bei Männern - Welche Liebe Fühlen". It's well-worth buying the CD just for this one track in order to listen to Richard's incomparable voice!

Here is the track (via RealPlayer).
