Calder Valley and District Branch Cats Protection

Adoption

Every year thousands of cats are admitted to Cats Protection branches throughout the country. Cats are admitted for all sorts of reasons - stray, unwanted, pregnant, abused, injured or the victims of bereavement, homelessness or divorce. Occasionally, to everybody's delight, lost cats are reunited with their owners. Sadly most are never claimed and are offered for rehoming once they are ready.

The Cats Protection has a non-destruction policy. No healthy cat is ever destroyed simply for want of a home. Cats stay in care until a suitable home is found, no matter how long it takes. This is brilliant news for the cats in care, but not so good for the ones waiting to come in. Day in, day out, the waiting list is ever present and always long.

The Branch is constantly looking for stable, loving homes for the endless stream of cats that have fallen on hard times. So if you are contemplating becoming a cat owner, please spare a thought for one of our lovely rescue cats who desperately needs a second chance.

Our cats are fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and treated for fleas and worms prior to rehoming. Adult cats and kittens over 16 weeks old are tested for FIV and FeLV. Our cats also come with 6 weeks free insurance.

All cats deserve the best and, as a Branch, we like to ensure that our cats are suitably placed. All prospective adopters receive a pre-adoption visit, and a further visit post adoption. Most cats settle quickly but, should you experience any problems with your new cat, help and advice is always available.

Cats with minor but ongoing medical problems are offered on long-term foster. This means that you treat the cat as your own but the Branch will pay for ongoing treatment for the specified condition.

Toby

TOBY is about 9 years old. He is a very friendly chap with enormous fluffy paws.

He has recently been diagnosed with diabetes and now needs twice daily injections. Therefore, he is going to need a very special person to give him a new home. Toby is fine with other cats and dogs. He loves his home comforts and is not too bothered about going outdoors.

If you are interested in Toby and would like further information, please ask, or call our advice number to request a leaflet on his condition on 01706 810489.

CLEO is approximately 6 years old. She is very streetwise and is sensible with cars.

She is not keen on men, other cats or dogs.
She likes to come and go as she pleases and gives affection on her terms and will let you know when she’s had enough.

Cleo would suit someone who likes an independent cat and isn’t offended when they get ignored.

If you'd like to give Cleo a home please phone us on 01706 810489.

SEMI-FERAL KITTENS

We've currently got several semi-feral kittens needing homes, ideally as "mousers" in stables, small-holdings or barns. They've all been neutered and are free (although donations will be gratefully accepted).

These semi-feral kittens are unlikely to make good pets, unless you have a lot of patience and are very lucky. They've been taken in from feral colonies but weren't young enough to be raised from "scratch" (an appropriate word for semi-feral kittens!)

They just need an outdoor home, occasional feeding and someone to keep an eye on them.

If you want an independent environmentally-friendly pest controller, please telephone 01706 810489.

HOME FROM HOME SERVICE

We offer a service to anyone who has a cat and for whatever reason they need a new home for it. Some people don’t want the cat to come into a foster home and so are willing to wait for the right person to come along. They give us a character profile of the cat and we match them up with a suitable person. It is then up to the two parties to get together and see if the rehoming will work. All we are is a “matchmaking” service.
