Newcastle City played a single header on Sunday 26th. February, against
Chester & Ellesmere Port Eels II.
For the third time, Newcastle City found themselves with a new home venue
Newburn Activity Centre hosted this, their last home match of the season.
Maybe as a result of Bob Browns home made aerials breaking in the warm-up,
City went on court and did not appear to have the necessary focus to start
the game on a high.
From a position of 19-12 down in the first set, City crawled back and
managed to snatch the set back, taking it 25-23.
A lack-lustre performance by the team was intermittently helped by some good
back court play by Olaf Naatz. This was teamed with some efficient serving
by both, 15 year old setter, Kieran Sowden and Man of the Match, Christofis
Monoyios, who both gained runs of 6 points with their serves.
City took the second set 25-21 and the third, 25-15 in a match that lacked
the excitement of previous games.
