Newcastle City v RAF Sentinels
A tense weekend for Newcastle, results in two more wins to preserve their
100% record in Mens Division 2 North of the Prosport National Volleyball
League.

In the first game versus home side RAF Sentinels, City were able to
experiment with the formation of the team and yet still achieve a 3 0
victory.
Outside hitter, Christofis Monoyios, moved into the power-hitting role,
providing more fire power in all Cityıs hitting positions.
A welcome return to action for middle hitter Ian (Zip)Buckle, set City up
for the big game of the day, against Oldham.

Newcastle City v Oldham

Newcastle raced into a 2 set lead but, possibly due to an injury to captain,
Gary Crosskey, were unable to maintain the pressure and conceded the next
two sets.
In the 5th set, Newcastle raced into a 6-2 early lead, with a mature serving
display from young Kieran Sowden. The second half of the set saw more clever
serving from Ian Buckle, coupled with consistent volleyball from the rest of
the team, notably Tom Eyre and Mike Anderson, allowing City to comfortably
close out the set 15-5 and with it, the match 3-2.
