| The Scale Model World weekend at Telford International Centre in November 2004 This is the big one for the IPMS in the UK and a particular favourite of mine. I stay for the whole weekend and see a good many old friends as well as making a few new ones too. Over dinner on the Saturday night we put the world of modelling to rights, and then ajourn to the bar to complete the task! A whole weekend spent talking, buying and looking at models. What more could you want..? But... At somed point I lost my notes, so if you know who built any of the models or can fill in some missing details email me please! |

| Warhammer 40k I spotted this well finished and dusty Predator hiding amongst a group of Iraqui tanks on the Thames Valley ATC stand - wonder how many other 'casual' visitors saw it..? Proof that it really takes a lot of hard work to properly view all those models... |
Another super little gem - this time a typhoon, of (I think) the Black Templars chapter. This tiny model was difficult to do justice to. |

| Talking of Iraq Superb paintwork and detailing I wish I could do too :-) |
The halls are full of little gems, worth a long day's digging. |

| This burned out T-55 is sitting on very light sand - unfortunately the flash makes it look rather like snow, and this impression is emphasised by the white ash spilling from the burnt rubber tyres on thed road wheels. |
Mars pattern Baneblade Now this was in a different scale all together! Six foot long, and packed with electronics that provided sound effects and flashing lights, this radio controlled model was the star of Forgeworld's stand... |

| Chieftain MkII One of my particular favourites this. The Tamiya kit with quite a bit of extra work done to it. |
Oddball's Sherman... I love this one too, there were several Wallace and Gromit versions - Nick Allen and his fellow modellers had been busy! |

Wallace and Gromit And their flying machine, a 'Mistel' conversion that looks to be based on Airfix's HE211 bomber in 1/72nd scale. Ian was discussing an Ork Gromit to fit in with the GW theme - so you may well see more of 'em soon! |
Italeri Crusader MkII Built straight from the box, and entered in the competitions. |

Tristar's Panzer Ia A worthy Medal winner in the comps this is good work and such a tiny model, even in 1/35th scale. |
Weapon of 'Maths Instruction' Proof that humour is alive and well and living comfortably in the IPMS. This fantasy creation caused a few amused smiles as it was spotted. |

M1 A2 Abrams Another Gulf subject in the competitions - the engine bay and hatches have extra details added. |
Whirlwind This really well detailed Games Workshop model was entered in the competition. Pretty much out of the box, the paint work is superb, and this is one reason I love judging Sci-Fi, some of the work is at least the equal of the 'real' model classes! |
| Well worth a vist this show - the next SMW is set for 19-20th November 2005 again at Telford International Centred. Why not come along. Just make sure you leave enough time to see everything!!! |
