Additional Travel Information for Groups This page should be read in conjunction with the main Travel Information Page. Although most of the students attending our courses come as individuals, we do have a number of groups of students travelling together, normally with accompanying group leaders. This page gives additional information for those groups.
Arriving at London Heathrow Airport On designated arrival days, transfers are arranged from London Heathrow airport. Our staff meet students and groups as they come through to the Arrivals Hall after passing through Customs. On arrival, you must look for our staff member, who will normally be carrying a sign with the Education aBc Oxford logo and name on it. If you have
booked an airport transfer to or from Heathrow for flights arriving or
departing between 10h and 18h on the designated arrival and departure
days, a member of our staff will be at the airport to help you. Please
look for someone carrying the Education aBc logo. If you have
booked an airport transfer outside the normal arrival times, the driver
will be waiting with the coach. The coach has to wait in the West Ramp
Coach Park, where the driver informs the coach park attendant of the time,
terminal and flight number for the group he is collecting. The Faster Way to Clear Immigration: Group Travel on Arrival at Heathrow Terminals 3 and 4 The Group Travel scheme is a way to start your trip to the UK with fast-tracked clearance at Immigration. It costs nothing, and will make your arrival in the UK quicker and easier. Passengers travelling together as a group have a separate, designated area in the Immigration Arrivals Hall. They are also allocated their own Immigration Officer, offering a personal service to help them to pass more quickly through UK Visa Immigration Controls. All passengers using the scheme are still subject to full immigration control procedures, but processing them as a single group saves time. Over 200,000 passengers used the scheme last year. Any passengers travelling together can use the scheme. This includes students. What happens on arrival? Those in a group can simply go to the highly visible area signposted "Group Travel" in the Immigration Hall. Any recognised Group Leader can be questioned on behalf of the group by the Immigration Officer. This is a free service offered by the Border and Immigration Agency and UK Visas. You don't need to fill out any forms, and no enrolment is required to use the scheme. Research indicates that using the Group Travel scheme could save you 90% of your queuing time if used during the busy, high season periods. A study conducted by UK airlines reveals that up to 10% of passengers travel in groups to the UK. UK Immigration statistics show that only 2% of travel groups use the scheme at the moment - so take advantage of it now! You do not need to contact the airport prior to starting your journey to the UK. However, if you would like to find out more information about the scheme, please use the contact details below: The scheme is currently only available at London Heathrow Terminals 3 & 4.
