In-company English language programme development

Over the past two years, we have been retained by a large multi-national organization which is currently revitalizing its operations in Russia and the CIS. In developing new levels of technological expertise within the organization, the need to communicate in English, and for staff to be able to study in English, has become more acute. We have conducted first a company-wide needs analysis, and then prepared a detailed plan for bringing appropriate learning opportunities to employees in the most time and cost effective ways possible. We are currently involved in putting this plan into practice, not just at the head office in Moscow, but also at two other sites in Russia.Click here for further in formation about the immersion and ESP courses which we are providing at the moment

This model is now in operation, and we are discussing possible other operations on a similar basis elsewhere in the world.

The traditional model for English language teaching outside the UK is for students to attend one or two 90-minute classes per week. This not only means that it can take years to accumulate enough hours to progress to a reasonable intermediate level (normally an average of 400 hours for a student to go from Beginner to level B1, which is the rating given to an intermediate level student under the Common European Framework). It also means that students are likely to miss classes from time to time, for work or personal reasons, and also that they never really gather any momentum in their learning. And this model contrasts with the full immersion model which students often follow after 300 or so hours in their own country, where they will suddenly be studying English for 6 hours per day, speaking English before class, during breaks, over lunch, and so on, covering 20-30 hours of classes per week, rather than 3. It is no wonder that students progress more quickly after a 4 week immersion course than with extensive classes spread over years.

However, it is expensive to attend an immersion course in the UK. Not only is there the travel costs (and of course there is an environmental cost there, too!), but there is also accommodation and food to think of, and the impact on the student's family back home.

Our in-company immersion courses bring the full immersion experience to you locally. Rather than send students to the UK, we bring our top quality teachers to you, and provide you with the full immersion experience during your working day, without any of the need for you to pay for international flights or accommodation away from home.

This method works out better in terms of language learning - both in terms of enjoyment and effectiveness - and also works out as being much more cost effective. After all, it is much more cost effective for us to send 4 teachers to you than for you to send 80 or more students to the UK. And if yours is only a small company, and you are only sending a few students to join one of our group classes, the same maths still applies!

But it also works out as being more environmentally friendly! With only 8 international flights per year compared to 180 or 200 international flights, we are all reducing our carbon footprints - which is good news for the future as well as for budgets - both for us and for our partners!

If you would like more information on how our top quality local immersion programmes can work for you - financially, personally, professionally, and effectively - please just contact us.
