Academic Programme - Junior Course

For students aged 12-15 years old

  • 28 classes of English language study and enrichment options per week
  • 2 week minimum stay
  • 4 lessons language study each weekday morning (Friday to Tuesday)
  • 2 lessons extra study options on four afternoons.

Students head towards their classes at St Edward'sMorning Classes

You will have four 45 minute classes each weekday morning, Friday to Tuesday. In your language study classes, your teachers will work with you on a range of different language skills appropriate to your level. This might include vocabulary and grammar work, speaking and listening skills, survival English to help you make the most of your stay in the UK, reading and writing, discussion activities and debates, role play and drama, or any one of a range of different activities.

We select only qualified and experienced teachers who are able to adapt the classes according to the language learning needs of their students, so that you get the best teaching, and make the most progress possible in the time you are with us.

We provide a full range of levels, from Elementary to Advanced. Complete Beginners are not accepted on to the main programme, but should join the separate Absolute Beginners Programme.

For a change of pace in the afternoons, we offer a choice between further language study classes (such as our English Grammar Clinic, or Speaking and Pronunciation Workshop), and a range of different more active options (such as Drama or Arts and Crafts). The purpose of these classes is to give you a different opportunity to study in English, to focus on special areas of interest, or of particular need to you, and just to use your language skills in a practical way - so that you make the most of your course with us.

In all, you will have afternoon classes on four afternoons each week, with two 45 minute classes on each afternoon.

What makes us different?

Well, apart from the quality of the classes, and the excellent teachers we select (many of whom come back to work with us year after year), we also make sure that you receive all the classes you pay for. Our courses run for a full two weeks - some other schools finish a day early, and you lose out on your last day of the course. We also arrange for the placement test on the day before your classes start. This means that we start your classes from 09.00h on the first day of your course - not half way through the day!

We want to provide a course where you will learn a lot, of course, but also a course which you enjoy so much that you will find it difficult to leave! We hope that you will come ready to study hard, of course, but we also hope that you will make friends, with your fellow students and with your teachers, andl have a great time with us.

We will certainly do our best to make sure that you do!
