Academic Programme - World Student Development Programme Where do you want to be in the year 2020? To add to
the already successful Business Leader 2020 programme, we bring another
programme designed for ambitious students who wish to make an impact in
the world – Creation 2020. Our intensive programmes expose you to new and challenging ideas that will help to develop your understanding, your self awareness, and your ability to make the most of future opportunities. So if you have an idea of where you want to be in the year 2020 ... … where do you need to be next summer? The Business Leader programme (provided in partnership with InThinking) uses the latest insights combined with extensive expertise and knowledge – and our top quality teaching! – to give you the tools to make your career dreams a reality. The course is a unique educational programme designed for ambitious students who wish to make an impact in the world of business and management. The intensive programme exposes you to new and challenging ideas that will help to develop your business and management skills, exercise your leadership qualities, think more creatively and study more effectively. Through a variety of lectures, case studies, simulations and project work, you will learn some of the secrets of business success, and what it takes to be an effective leader. This will give you a crucial edge over other students in planning – and preparing for – your future. The Creation programme is designed for students who want to develop their writing or performance skills. The programme is aimed at students who are interested in all aspects of literature in English, from poetry to novels, from speech writing to editing, and from drama to journalism, whether as performers or writers – or both. The course brings together expert teachers and working authors, actors and playwrights, to provide a broad cultural and artistic background, and gives you the opportunities and challenges which will test and stretch your abilities. The programme gives you the opportunity to explore a wealth of literary and dramatic styles and techniques, to develop your own critical senses, and to experiment with and refine your own creative and expressive talents. With drama workshops and creative writing classes complementing our literature study and poetry Slam!, this is a course for students exploring their creative talents, honing their skills and techniques, and finding the right direction for their futures.
For Business Leader students, this might include thinking and study skills, business and leadership techniques, communication skills and public speaking, strategy and marketing, risk assessment and decision making, leadership skills, critical thinking and memory improvement techniques, team building or emotional intelligence. For
Creation students, this might include literary criticism, creative writing,
plot development, voice coaching, stage setting and performance classes,
as well as theatre trips and group work.
What makes us different? Well, apart from the quality of the classes, and the excellent teachers we select (many of whom come back to work with us year after year), we also make sure that you receive all the classes you pay for. Our courses run for a full two weeks - some other schools finish a day early, and you lose out on your last day of the course. We want to provide a course where you will learn a lot, of course, but also a course which you enjoy so much that you will find it difficult to leave! We hope that you will come ready to study hard, of course, but we also hope that you will make friends, with your fellow students and with your teachers, and have a great time with us. We will certainly do our best to make sure that you do! NB: This course is not eligible for British Council accreditation. It is delivered to our same high standards, but we do not wish to imply that this is an accredited course. We are currently exploring whether accreditation for the Business Leader course, through EdExcel (a UK examination board) would be appropriate. |
