UK TV Channels |
 |
Free
loan of children's videos (in English) from our own collection. Many
children's favourites are available; Fireman Sam, Tweenies, TOTS TV, Bob the
Builder, Brum, Teletubbies, etc. (We also have a few feature films available
too). |
 |
Board games, games and other toys (mainly boys) may also be provided free of
charge, on request, depending on availability. All we ask is that the items
be returned in a similar condition as when loaned; and that any items
damaged, be replaced. |
 |
The
new, fitted kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, cooker, washing
machine, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee percolator and,
perhaps most importantly, a corkscrew! |
 |
Obviously
we haven't forgotten to include the basic items such as cutlery, crockery,
utensils, glassware and pots & pans. |
 |
French
doors (what else!) lead to a south-facing raised patio area overlooking the
garden, play area and swimming pool. A garden table and chairs are available
so that meals can be taken alfresco as and when you like. For safety reasons
the barbeque is located on a separate, enclosed patio. |
 |
The
garden of the cottage is fully enclosed. |
 |
The
free-form swimming pool (occasionally shared with the owners). |

 |
It is 6 metres by
12 metres with Roman Steps to the side, giving easy access to the shallow end. Parents and non-swimmers should note that it is 1.6 metres at the deepest point.
We do not add chlorine to the pool for
sterilization. Instead small amount of salt is diluted in the pool water (less
salty than a teardrop) and this is then converted into chlorine using electrolysis. This system uses much less chlorine, resulting in fresher water and
NO SORE, RED
EYES! |
 |
Sun
loungers are available for use around the pool and in the interest of safety
the pool area is completely fenced, with lockable gates as the only entry
points. |
 |
Children playing in the play area can be seen from the patio of the
cottage, giving parents complete peace of mind.
|
 |
4.20m
(14ft) Trampoline. |
 |
The
rest of the grounds extend to over 9 acres, giving you plenty of room to
run, hop, skip, jump, play hide 'n' seek and many other games. Perhaps you
could even let the children join in too! There are many small lanes and
roads close by for safe walking & cycling. |
 |
For
those house-hunting in France (either for permanent or holiday
homes), we are centrally located to explore the Bordeaux, Gironde,
Charente, Medoc & Dordogne regions. |
 |
Heating
is provided throughout the cottage. |
What else
do
we have to offer here at "Jappeloup"?
Guests
staying in the cottage are invited to enjoy the peace and tranquility that first
attracted us here to "Jappeloup". The south facing garden enjoys the
sun for most of the day and has views across the unspoiled, typically French
countryside. In summer, afternoon shade is provided by the twelve metre high
Christmas tree planted adjacent to the patio, or the large, spreading fig tree
on the lawn. A barbeque is provided to entice you to eat alfresco on those long,
usually warm summer evenings. Sitting on the patio sipping an aperitif, whilst
the unmistakable aroma of barbeque cooking drifts across the garden, is the
perfect start to an "evening in". In spring and early summer, as the
sun finally drops behind the trees around 10 o'clock, the frogs chorus heralds
yet another spectacular sunset.

Eventually
the daylight disappears completely, leaving the crystal clear stars contrasting
brightly against the black velvet of the night sky. Only on a moonless night and
when this far away from "civilization" does the night sky look so dark
and the stars so plentiful. Being the first person to spot a "shooting
star" is a most satisfying way to end the evening!
All in all, "Jappeloup" is the ideal place for unwinding and
relaxing, giving you the chance to "recharge your batteries"!
