How to find us!

Heading Southbound on A10

1. Take Exit Number 38 signposted "BLAYE".

2. After toll booth turn left on D254 signposted "BLAYE".

3. At first roundabout turn left towards "REIGNAC" & "St. SAVIN".

4. In Reignac at crossroads by church go straight across towards "St. SAVIN".

5. After approximately 10kms there is a crossroads signposted "Bussac" to the left. CARRY STRAIGHT ON (this is only a marker to show you that you are close to the following step).

6. There is a post with two road signs on it - a deer above a right-hand bend sign. SLOW DOWN you have to take the next turning on the left, which is at the small crossroads where there is a white post with a reflective red band on both sides of the road, not just one.

7. Follow this lane, passing a few houses & a couple of turnings on the left. Just past a right- hand bend (by a house on the left with green gates) the road splits. Take the LEFT lane.

8. At the next crossroads TURN RIGHT. "Jappeloup" is the first house on your
right, it is on a right-hand bend so go slowly or you will overshoot!

Heading Northbound from Bordeaux

1. From Bordeaux follow the signs to "Paris", which will eventually lead you to the A10. The junction numbers are marked and reduce as you head north.

2. At junction 39b keep in the right-hand lane and follow the signs to "Angouleme" (N10). (The tollbooths for the A10 are just a few hundred metres past this junction, so try not to overshoot!).

3. Keep on this road for approximately 15 kms passing exits for (amongst others) "Gauriaguet", "Gauriaguet Gare", "Cubnezais" & "Cavignac", then take the exit for the D22 signed "Laruscade, St Mariens, St. Savin".

4. Negotiate the roundabout following the sign to "St. Savin". This will take you across the main road and to another roundabout. Turn right here still following signs to "St Savin".

5. Cross the level crossing and at the next T-junction turn right and follow the road into St. Savin.

6. At the first roundabout (with the "Intermarche" supermarket) take the second exit.

7. At the next roundabout take the second exit (D23), signed "Montendre"; "Jappeloup" is situated on this road.

8. As you cross the level crossing note (or reset) your odometer reading, as we are exactly 3.5kms (just under 2.2 miles) on the left. Just before our property you may see a small sign for "Jappeloup" pointing to the right. Ignore this! We are the next house on the left! (The sign actually points to the hamlet of the same name).

Lounge area has comfortable leather seating and low units which house the TV/video and radio/CD/cassette players.Free loan of children's videos (in English) from our own collection.
Bicycles, board games, games and other toys (mainly boys) may also be provided free of charge, on request, depending on availability. The kitchen is English style and fully equipped with a refrigerator, cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee percolator and, perhaps most importantly, a corkscrew! Obviously we haven't forgotten to include the basic items such as cutlery, crockery, utensils, glassware and pots & pans.
French doors (what else!) lead to a south-facing raised patio area overlooking the garden, play area and swimming pool. A garden table and chairs are available so that meals can be taken alfresco as and when you like. The garden of the cottage is fully enclosed. The free-form swimming pool (shared with the owners) has just been completed, ready for the 2003 season. It is 6 metres by 12 metres with Roman Steps to the side, giving easy access to the shallow end. Parents and non-swimmers should note that it is 1.6 metres at the deepest point. We do not add chlorine to the pool for sterilisation, we use a relatively new technique. A small amount of salt is diluted in the pool water (less than the percentage in a teardrop) and this is then converted into chlorine using electrolysis. This system uses much less chlorine, resulting in fresher water and NO SORE, RED EYES.Sunloungers and a hammock are available for use around the pool and in the interest of safety (and to comply with impending French law) the pool area is fenced, with lockable gates as the only entry points. The rest of the grounds extend to over 9 acres, giving you plenty of room to run, hop, skip, jump, play hide 'n' seek and many other games. For those looking house-hunting in France (either for permanent or holiday homes), we are centrally located to explore the Bordeaux, Gironde, Charente, Medoc & Dordogne regions. All in all Jappeloup is the ideal place for unwinding and relaxing, giving you the chance to "recharge your batteries"!
