Salthouse
is a conservation village overlooking the Salthouse Marshes.
It was once a warehouse centre for locally produced salt. Much
of the village was lost in the 1953 floods.
The
church is set on high ground and is impressively large. There
is 18th century graffiti on the choir stalls showing the tall
masted ships of the time. Salthouse Heath, along the top of
the ridge, has nightingales and nightjars.
